Thanks to James "Uncle" Wainaina, one of Family Hope Charity's
'Recovery Coaches," FHC will receive a 70,000Kshs = around $800 USD grant
from a donor through St. John's Catholic Church in Korogocho. This will enable FHC to
purchase an electric charcoal briquette making machine. And with this new
machine we will be able to employ a good number of HIV+ recovering alcoholics
and drug addicts from Korogocho slum in Eastlands Nairobi. The charcoal briquettes
that are made are from recycled materials like saw dust, charcoal dust, molasses,
and black soil. There seems to be a good market for these and we are hopeful.
For the poor, employment means hope, and hope means valuing your life and
valuing your life means not depending on drugs or alcohol to make it through
the day. Men that are hopeful are fathers that take care of their children
and husbands who can provide for their spouses.
So once again thanks Uncle!!!!! Pictured is Tom, Director of Family Hope Charity
and "Uncle." James Wainaina.
